Baby acne and first real smiles. Short week at school and anxious egg hunters. Spring cleaning and a contest won. Wishing daddy was home more. Can't wait for a date. Happy Easter

Five minute Friday

I forgot to hit publish last night...

It's spring break and Blake turned five! We had a few celebrations and one still to go Monday at school when she brings blue (her favorite color) cupcakes. She received some fabulous gifts that included a new bike and helmet, basketball and hoop, money she can't decide what to spend it on and her very own bible, not Rylan's, not Elle's, just hers ;) Lyla is growing so fast. Already out of newborn clothes, five weeks old, over 11.5 lbs, and awake more and more. This weekend Kenny and the big kids are camping in the backyard. We are getting more in sync with this new version of our family, it's pretty great and it's pretty busy!

I should add that Kenny decorated her cake per her request!

Five minute Friday

...times two...
We have had some very busy weeks with both sets of grandparents visiting, wrapping up basketball for three big kids, Texas day, Stars game, birthday parties, doctor appointments, and regular life inbetween. Little Lyla had her first photo shoot too. I'll post some in the coming weeks. For now I'll share some pictures from Instagram because, well, I'm just tired this Friday before spring break after a week of rain and no recess-eeek,and the kids are over it and in out of ideas to burn off energy while I'm jealous I had half of theirs, ahhhh, deep exhale and we do the next thing then the next until it's bedtime and into the weekend...

Five minute Friday

We had a couple of nice days home with the little girls before Kenny had to go back to work on Wednesday. The time went way too fast. The next two days went just as fast with lots of running around and grandparents here. This weekend we have three basketball games, Lyla's newborn photos and a birthday party. We have another big week ahead and we are looking forward to basketball wrapping up next Saturday, we desperately need some down time! Baseball will have to wait, fall ball it is :/

Lyla Meadow

Last Friday February 12 at 1220 pm our fourth daughter and the grand finale Lyla Meadow was born. It was a quick and beautiful morning. Two hours later I had a tubal ligation and the next evening we went home. She was 8lbs 5 oz 19". She is a nursing champ, great sleeper, and loves to snuggle. When we got home Saturday night part of our kitchen was flooded. Avila woke up at 430 that morning puking. Sunday afternoon the next three got the bug, Kenny followed up with it Monday and I got it Tuesday. An insane about of laundry, cleaning, Lysol, bleach, carpet cleaner, some tears from mama and here we are at Friday with our beautiful blessing sleeping soundly in the swing. I could go into detail about all the other craziness that has happened this week, but the best parts are that our friends have loved us well with food, babysitting, dropping off get well remedies, covering us in prayers, and snuggling our sweet girl. The big kids have loved having Lyla here and are anxious to really help and hold her but we have had to be extra cautious to keep her well. Avila is warming up to her and gentle when she has been comfortable enough to "pet" her. In the immediate needs of the week it's been easy to get lost in all that and I wanted to take a break today really let it settle in what a gift this week has been. Our community has surrounded us and our tribe inside these four walls has been provided for, our new baby is healthy, the sun is shinning, my husband has been dad and mom with grace and patience, our family is complete, like 200% no going back, and the best days are yet to come.

Avila turned two on the 7th. We celebrated with a Texas size donut, dinner out, frozen yogurt of her very own choosing, and  her first car. Girl loves her cozy coupe! It was a great day!

Five minute Friday

Great weekend, fast week, ready for another weekend of basketball and a birthday party with the most special celebration of the year so far ahead on Sunday as Avila turns two! This coming week will also be the very last few days I will carry a baby on my belly. I have a scheduled induction for Friday the 12th if Lyla continues to stay cozy where she is. So it's more than likely I won't have a post next week but the following I will catch up on Avila's birthday and Lyla's arrival. In other kid news, Blake is learning to write her name and it's awesome watching her progress and mature. Elle finished her reading enrichment lunch bunch group with the librarian yesterday, it was her first chapter book! Kenny's coaching both kids basketball teams and has shared how much Rylan hustles and is really getting a grasp of the game, exciting his first year of basketball is going so well. Between work and basketball, the mr and I feel like ships passing in the night, we may have over committed, when he coached years ago life was certainly different. We are trying to make the best of the busy schedule all the while preparing for our fifth child. I don't see life slowing down for many years, which is a privilege we are grateful for, but we do miss the simplicity sometimes of just spending time together being husband and wife and a family without something written on the calendar everyday. It's a season, we know, we'll adapt- we always do.

Five minute Friday

We had a nice weekend and replaced the car, phew! Things continue to be checked off the list and cruise right along as we wait for little Lyla's arrival. We have two basketball games tomorrow and a birthday party, several walks, sunny skies that would never lead you to believe it's winter here, and a chill Sunday.

Five minute Friday

Another quick week in the books. Saturday Kenny and I had a great date night.Sunday I made a ton of freezer meals and worked in a project for the nursery. Monday we were all home and continued to chip away at our list. Tuesday I had an ultrasound and doctor appointment and Blake stayed home sick. Wednesday I took it easy as I started to feel like we where getting close to the end. Thursday continued to work on The List and  finish up our regular chores. Today is a low key day, lunch at a friends and a movie with girlfriends tonight. Kids had practices this week and games and a birthday party for one tomorrow. Still dealing with the car mess but hoping, praying, fingers crossed it is all done and we have replaced the car by next weekend. After that I will be in full on meet this baby girl mode!

Five minute Friday

Well our week started out with a bang. Monday morning we had a nice surprise of Kenny's car being hit and no note. Our day was spent dealing with all of that and then that evening the person responsible came over and gave us their insurance info so we are still in the process of dealing with that. Unfortunately it is totaled. I was spoiled Saturday with a sweet gathering of girlfriends to celebrate baby Lyla, the kids started basketball this week, we are almost all set for all things baby and we all have a three weekend. So despite the bumps this week, life is good!

Five minute Friday

So kids are back to school and naturally Kenny and I got stomach bug and Avila had a double ear infection as well. I had a terrible migraine yesterday, but Kenny took good care of me. Hate those things, hopefully after Lyla is here I can get some migraine medicine and be done with these! On a happier note, Blake learned to ride her bike without training wheels and the big kids had on a little jump/ramp  with their  bikes. Continuing to get the nursery and other baby things ready.
